BIG TIME Press Preview
January 17, 2006Finally came out of my “anti-social” mode. Went out to watch the press screening of BIG TIME at the Podium. Travelled more than an hour to watch the film, and yeah, it was all worth it! A must see film this year, BIG TIME was a Cinemalaya Finalist for Digital Films. Winner for BEST SCREENPLAY (Mario Cornejo and Monster Jimenez) and BEST SOUND (Allan Feliciano and Raffy Magsaysay).

”Big Time” will be shown in SM Cinemas on January 25. Filipinos will surely laugh their ass out when they see this film, as I did tonight. Dialogues were delivered naturally in a comical approach. Most shots are handheld, defocusing some shots to achieve the natural and realistic feel. The camera movements were mostly fluid, with fast cut edits inter cutting with the dialogues. The low camera angles were also fabulous! The production design used the resources of the location, except for the costume and props of the characters. I so love to read what’s on Danny or Jonas’ shirt, they wore crew uniforms of 7-11, McDonalds, etc. I also couldn’t get my eyes off their “John en Marsha” or “Pera o Bayong” shirts. It was obvious that it was thought of in the pre-prod stage. The shirts were representations of their character background as well.
Its also good to see my friend Jamie Wilson on the big screen, well, its good to see him again that is. Its been sometime since I worked with him in Cybernation…hehehe…He’s a good host and a good actor, whether on stage or on the big screen. I wish to see more of him on the big screen! After watching the film, we had coffee at UCC. Melanie, Vince, Mads and I talked about anything, from Pinoy films to Korean films.
Friends, colleagues, migraines, PMS! hahahahahaha! Imagined some “cotton-cotton” on Vince’s head! hahahahaha! It was nice to catch up with friends you only see during special occassion!
Over all, I had fun tonight. Even though I had to travel more than an hour, it was all worth it! Aside from watching a good film and being with friends, it was Ria’s gift today which made me really happy! A digital camera I was dying to have! THANK YOU SO MUCH RIA! I couldn’t thank you enough for what you did to me today!
